Getting Everyone on Board with Rubrics

Question: Our students have completed a school-wide common writing assessment (formal writing prompt), and now it’s time for teachers to score the samples. Most of our teachers have never used a rubric before, and we are looking for a way to gently ease them into the process. Any suggestions?
Answer: When utilizing a common writing assessment to collect data, scoring consistency is key. Organizing small group practice sessions is a typical strategy to expose teachers to the school writing rubric and give them some experience using it.
