Continuing Education
 

All registrants who attend both days of the Literacy Retreat will be given a completion certificate on Wednesday that acknowledges that 11 hours of professional development were fulfilled during the conference.
 

Illinois-specific credit 

Thanks to a partnership with the Regional Office of Education #19, all Illinois teachers attending our June 19-20 session in Chicago are eligible to earn state-approved continuing education credit for 11 hours of training. Smekens Education is an approved subcontractor for ROE #19.

Graduate Credit

For an additional fee, attendees may apply the 11 hours of training earned during the Literacy Retreat toward 3 hours of graduate-level credit from the Midwest Teachers Institute. These are non-degree credits which are designed for professional certification renewals and salary step increases. (Check with your district for approval prior to making a commitment.)
 

Midwest Teachers Institute (MTI) — 3 credits/$375
  • Attendance at the Retreat, plus additional coursework related to the Retreat, is required for credit.
  • MTI has an exclusive agreement with Colorado State University-Pueblo to provide teachers with an official transcript for completing course  MTI 539.
  • CSU-Pueblo is nationally accredited by CAEP, the Higher Learning Commission, and is a member of the North Central Association.
