Test Lady Sisters on a Bulletin Board
The Test Lady Sisters are expanding their scope of influence. First, the Smekens Literacy Retreat. Now, their pictures are showing up in Smoky Row Elementary School, Carmel Clay Schools! Barb Mahnesmith used Kristina Smekens' Test Lady script to spur her students on to remember what each Test Lady Sister wants them to include in their writing. So the Test Lady Sisters are helping students picture an audience and learn how to improve their prompt writing. They are busy girls!
Barb created simple picture pages by copying and pasting each Test Lady Sister description from the script at the top of each handout. As Barb introduced each of the seven key elements, she had the students draw the Test Lady Sister's portrait that went with the description. The pictures tell the story! Check out some of the great likenesses provided by Barb's class. What a great bulletin board to help students picture an audience for their state assessment writing.
Ever since Kristina Smekens introduced the idea of a Test Lady, signs of that lady's true identity have been popping up all over. Visit the following links for more ideas about how to introduce the Test Lady.
