Create Anticipatory Set Activities to Engage Students

(Access resources for this training.)

An anticipatory set is a brief activity or event at the beginning of the lesson that effectively engages students’ attention and focuses their thoughts on the learning objective. The purpose is to involve all students, focus everyone’s attention, and whet their appetites for the content you are studying.

Smekens Education Digital Resource Specialist Nadine Gilkison (who is also the Technology Integration Specialist for Franklin Twp. Schools in Indianapolis, IN) created a 30-minute video on how to create anticipatory sets using a variety of websites and apps. Set aside time to watch this informative training session.
