Continuing Education Credit

Continuing Education Credit

Professional Growth Credits

At the end of each one-day workshop sponsored by Smekens Education, participants receive a certificate of completion which acknowledges time spent in professional development. Each certificate is signed by the presenter and lists the key points addressed during the workshop.

Because the requirements for each state vary, participants are responsible for verifying that training from Smekens Education will fulfill their state's continuing education requirements.

In addition to credit for time spent in professional development, participants can also elect to earn graduate credit. Additional details about graduate credit can be found below.

Illinois

For workshops held in Illinois, Smekens Education works with the ROE where the workshop is located to provide state-approved professional development credit. As an approved subcontractor of the ROE, Smekens Education is able to provide all Illinois teachers with the state-approved credit, regardless of where they reside in Illinois. Please check individual workshop pages for specific ROE approval information.

Indiana

Certified educators in Indiana can earn 5.5 PGPs for attending any one-day workshop sponsored by Smekens Education. The completion certificate provided at the end of the workshop serves as verification of attendance.

Michigan
Through a partnership with Madonna University, attendees may receive SCECHs for attending Smekens Education workshops.

Participants who arrive on time and stay for the entire workshop are eligible to receive five (5) SCECHs for each one-day seminar. Participants arriving on time will receive the SCECH form when they check in. Participants must fill out the SCECH form completely and turn it in at the end of the workshop to the designated monitor. (NOTE: SCECH forms will not be accepted for participants who arrive late or depart early from the workshop.) Participants must turn in their own SCECH form before they leave the workshop. Forms cannot be accepted by mail or from their colleagues. An evaluation must be completed by the participant to receive credit. The evaluation will be emailed to the participant after MIEM receives the SCECH forms back. A fee of $20 per participant applies and is due on the day of the seminar.

Ohio
With prior approval from a Local Professional Development Committee, certified educators from Ohio can earn .55 CEUs (5 Contact Hours) for attending any one-day workshop sponsored by Smekens Education. The completion certificate provided at the end of the workshop, in addition to a Verification of Participation form, serves as proof of Contact Hours.
