Highlight Ideas on an ABC Bulletin Board
September 27, 2010

Diana Arnold started an “ABC Ideas” hallway bulletin board with her first graders at Southeast Primary School (Decatur, IN). They add to it weekly, brainstorming things first graders are knowledgeable about. After introducing her students to the alpha-boxes, Diana also modeled an ABC Chart all about herself. She taught her students that they are experts on individual topics, too. She showed her students how to think of things they know and have experienced that start with each letter. As homework, the students were then given their own ABC posters to do with parents.
