Speaking of books–educational researcher Michael Clay Thompson studied more than 35,000 passages from more than 130 English and American literature classics over the last 10 years. He has identified the top 100 words that appear with the greatest frequency in these works. His theory is that if teachers are looking for students to be able to read “comfortably,” then it makes sense that they would understand the meanings of these 100 words. Download the 100 words.
Thompson also reveals how many times these Top 100 words appear in 35 well-known classics. Download the complete list of 35 titles.
Thank you to Mike Stephens (curriculum director at Union Twp. Schools, IN) for sharing this valuable information.
